Refund & Cancellation Policy

Effective Date: July 1, 2025

Thank you for choosing to support animals and verified organizations through Donate Smartly (“we”, “us”, “our”).

1. Nature of Donations

All contributions made through the Donate Smartly platform are voluntary donations to NGOs, shelters, rescuers, or welfare organisations listed on our platform. Donations are used for rescue, treatment, rehabilitation, permanent care, and other welfare activities for animals and beneficiaries supported by these organisations.

2. No Refund Policy (General Rule)

As a standard policy, donations are non-refundable. Once a donation is successfully processed, we are unable to cancel it or provide a refund, as the funds may have already been allocated or utilised for welfare activities.

3. Exceptions – When a Refund May Be Considered

However, we may consider a refund in the following limited situations:

  • The donation was deducted multiple times from the donor’s account for the same transaction due to a technical error.
  • The donor entered an incorrect amount clearly due to a technical glitch (for example, decimal error or system malfunction), and the organisation confirms that the amount has not been utilised.
  • The payment was processed after the transaction was shown as failed, and the donor made an additional successful payment for the same cause.

Any decision on a refund will be at the sole discretion of Donate Smartly and/or the concerned organisation, based on verification of transaction logs and utilisation status of funds.

4. Timeframe to Raise a Refund Request

  • Any request for refund must be raised within 7 days from the date of the transaction.
  • Requests raised after 7 days will generally not be eligible for review, except in exceptional cases, as decided by us or the organisation.

5. How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, please email us at contact.donatesmartly@gmail.com with the following details:

  • Full Name
  • Contact Number
  • Transaction ID / Payment Reference
  • Date and Amount of Donation
  • Reason for requesting a refund

You may also attach screenshots of bank/SMS/email confirmations that show the duplicate or erroneous charge.

6. Processing of Approved Refunds

  • If your refund request is approved, the refund will be processed to the original mode of payment (bank account / card / wallet / UPI) used at the time of donation.
  • Depending on your bank or payment provider, the refunded amount may take 7–14 working days to reflect in your account.

7. Cancellations

Since donations are one-time or recurring contributions intended for welfare activities, cancellation is not applicable once a donation is processed.

For any recurring / monthly donation arrangements, donors may request to stop future recurring payments by contacting us or the organisation at least 7 days before the next scheduled debit.

8. Disputes and Chargebacks

If a donor raises a dispute or chargeback with their bank or payment provider, we may share transaction records and communication trails with the payment gateway or bank to resolve the matter.
